Hongdae busking홍대 버스킹
Hongdae busking is cover culture in public space, not a free concert with a setlist. Quality ranges from trainee-hopefuls to tight dance crews. You are on a sidewalk with locals going home.
Where the circles form
Walk from Hongik University Station Exit 9 toward the playground / walking street. Circles move. If a crew has a speaker and a painted board with QR codes, that is a regular. Do not stand in the bike lane; Hongdae police do move people.
When to go
- Weekend evenings (Fri–Sun from ~18:00) are the dense hours.
- Winter: shorter sets, more indoor noraebang nearby.
- Rain: most serious crews cancel. Do not wait it out in the middle of the crosswalk.
Etiquette
- Put money in the box or scan the QR if you film more than 15 seconds. Views on TikTok are not payment.
- Do not request “the BTS song” as a command. A polite “가능해요?” after they finish a number is enough.
- Leave space for the dance formation. Lightstick waving belongs at ticketed shows (etiquette).
Afterward: noraebang upstairs is the Korean encore. Phrases: noraebang phrases.
