Table manners
Spoon and chopsticks, waiting for elders, and the lid of the rice bowl.
Practical rules
- Wait for the eldest to pick up their spoon.
- Rice and soup with the spoon; side dishes with chopsticks — do not spear.
- Do not leave chopsticks standing in the rice (funeral image).
- Pour drinks for others; two hands if you are younger.
- Slurping noodles is fine; blowing your nose at the table is not.
