Market culture

전통시장 vs the supermarket — how Koreans still shop with their eyes and noses.

Ask, taste, bag

A 전통시장 sells by the pile: you point, they weigh, they often taste you a slice of kimchi or a dried snack. Bargaining is light, not a souk. Super and 마트 are for packaged jang and late hours. Tourists who only see Myeongdong miss the weekday market where banchan is still made that morning.
