도시락

Dosirak — the lunchbox

Packed rice, a protein, and namul that travels — school, hike, and kimbap’s cousin.

Designed to go cold

도시락 is a composed lunch, not leftovers dumped in a box. Rice packs the corner; a fried item or rolled egg; kimchi in a leak-safe cup. Convenience-store dosirak is a later, saltier cousin. Hiking clubs still unwrap a homemade one at the peak. See cook: kimbap and gyeran-mari.
