๐Ÿฅ— Vegan & vegetarian Korea

Temple cuisine is excellent, but everyday Korean food often hides fish sauce or meat stock. These phrases and neighborhoods make eating out workable.

Hidden animal products

Kimchi may include shrimp/fish sauce. Broths for noodles and stews often use anchovy or beef. Bibimbap usually comes with meat unless requested.

Temple food

Balanced, seasonal, no garlic/onion in traditional temple style. Book lunch sittings at major temples or try temple-food restaurants in Seoul.

Neighborhoods

Seongsu, Hapjeong, and Itaewon have dedicated vegan cafรฉs. Markets: look for mushroom and tofu stalls. Map: food districts.

Convenience stores

Triangle kimbap may contain fish cake โ€” read labels. Banana milk, nuts, fruit cups, and some salads are easier wins.
