🚰 Tap water is generally safe

City water meets drinking standards. Taste (chlorine, old pipes in a specific building) is why many people still buy 500 ml bottles. You will not get β€œDelhi belly” from Seoul tap as a default.

Hotels: electric kettles are everywhere. If the bathroom sink water tastes metallic, use the kettle or lobby fountain.
Subway days: carry a bottle anyway. Convenience stores sell water cheaper than tourist cafes.
Ice in chain cafes is fine. Street ice in summer is a judgment call like anywhere.
Hiking: do not drink untreated stream water in national parks.

Refill at cafes if you bought a drink β€” asking politely (λ¬Ό μ’€ μ±„μ›Œ μ£Όμ„Έμš”) often works.
