👘 Hanbok rental near the palaces

Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung, and Jongmyo often waive admission if you are in proper hanbok. Bring your passport for the ticket booth.

Rent around Gyeongbokgung / Bukchon / Ikseon-dong. Shops quote ₩15,000–40,000+ depending on hair, extras, and peak weekends. Try on early; changing rooms get busy at 10:00.
“Proper” hanbok means a visible traditional outfit, not a tiny cape over jeans. Staff at the gate decide. Winter: shops have padded layers.
Photos: palaces ban drones and some tripods. Be kind on narrow palace paths. Do not block the throne halls for a 20-minute shoot.
Return on time — overtime fees add up. Pair with palace tickets if you are not renting.

Closed days differ by palace (often Tuesday). Check the official Cultural Heritage site the morning you go.
