Yongsan Station Luggage Storage: The Real-Time Availability Hack
Listen, friend. Yongsan Station isn’t just a train station; it’s a massive labyrinth connected to the I’Park Mall (one of the biggest malls in Seoul).
Here is the trap most tourists fall into: They assume there are “plenty of lockers” because the station is huge.
The Reality: On Fridays, weekends, and holidays, the main lockers on the 3rd floor are often 100% full by 11:00 AM. I see tourists standing in front of the locker screens with their 28-inch suitcases, sweating and panicking, every single weekend.
Don’t be that tourist. This guide will show you exactly where the lockers are, how to pay, and the “Cheat Code” locals use to skip the locker hunt entirely.

⚡ The “Korean Cheat Sheet”: Quick Summary
If you are rushing to catch a KTX, here is everything you need to know in 10 seconds.
| Service Type | Best For | Cost (approx.) | Korean Search Term |
| T-Locker (Station) | Short layovers (2-4 hours) | ₩2,000 – ₩4,000 | 용산역 물품보관함 |
| I’Park Mall Lockers | Shoppers (Small bags only) | Free (Refundable Coin) | 아이파크몰 물품보관소 |
| Luggage Delivery | Hotel-to-Airport / Station-to-Hotel | ₩20,000+ | 짐배송 (Zimzero/TRIPC) |
⚠️ Insider Warning: Most official station lockers DO NOT accept cash anymore. You need a credit card (Visa/Mastercard usually work) or a T-Money card.
Option 1: The Official T-Lockers (Best for 2-4 Hours)
The official lockers in Seoul Metro and KRAIL stations are branded as “T-Locker” (Tota Locker / 또타라커). They are digital, secure, and brightly colored (usually yellow or orange).
📍 Where are they exactly?
Do not wander aimlessly. Go straight to the 3rd Floor Central Concourse.
Spot A: Right next to the KTX Ticket Counter (Look for the long line of people buying tickets).
Spot B: Near Exit 1, heading towards the escalator.
💰 How much does it cost?
Prices are based on size and time blocks (usually a base rate for the first 4 hours).
Small (S): ₩2,000 (~$1.50 USD) – Fits a backpack.
Medium (M): ₩3,000 (~$2.20 USD) – Fits a carry-on.
Large (L): ₩4,000 (~$3.00 USD) – Fits a 24-28 inch suitcase.
Extra Large (XL): ₩6,000+ (Rare) – Fits huge luggage.
Note: If you exceed the 4-hour base time, you will be charged extra per hour upon retrieval.
📱 The “Pro Tip” Hack: Check Availability Before You Walk
You don’t have to walk all the way to the locker to see if it’s full. Locals use the “T-Locker” (또타라커) App.
Download the T-Locker App.
Select “Yongsan Station” on the map.
- It will show you exactly how many “Large” lockers are empty in real-time.
If the app says “0 Available,” save your energy and skip to Option 3 below.

Option 2: I’Park Mall Lockers (The “Hidden” Option)
If the station lockers are full, you can try the adjoining I’Park Mall. However, this comes with a warning: Navigation here is difficult.
Location: B1 Floor (near Emart) or 4th/5th Floors near the restrooms.
The Catch: These are mostly “Shopper Lockers.” They are designed for shopping bags and coats, not for giant Samsonite suitcases.
Cost: Often free (requires a 100 KRW coin deposit that you get back), but availability is spotty.
Local Tip: If you are dragging heavy luggage, I do not recommend hunting for these. The elevators in I’Park Mall are slow, and the crowds are thick.
Option 3: Luggage Delivery Services (Highly Recommended)
If you are checking out of your hotel in Hongdae/Myeongdong and taking the KTX to Busan (or heading to Incheon Airport) later, why are you carrying your bags at all?
In Korea, we use “Zimzero” or “TRIPC” services.
How it works: You leave your bag at your hotel reception at 9:00 AM. A driver picks it up. You go explore Yongsan/Seoul duty-free. You meet your bag at the Airport or your next destination.
Why locals do this: It costs about $15-$20 USD. The price of a coffee and a snack is worth not dragging a 20kg box up and down subway stairs.
Where to book: Search for “Seoul Luggage Delivery” on Klook or Trazy before your trip. This needs to be booked at least 24 hours in advance!
How to Use the Digital Locker (Step-by-Step)
The screens can be intimidating if you’re in a rush. Here is the drill:
To Store:
Press “Store” (보관) on the touchscreen (Change language to English).
Select the Locker Number (Blue is available, Grey is in use).
Scan your fingerprint (some older machines) OR create a 4-digit PIN code.
Pay with Credit Card or T-Money.
The door opens. Put your bag in. Push it firmly shut.
To Retrieve:
Press “Retrieve” (찾기).
Enter your Locker Number and PIN.
If you stayed longer than 4 hours, insert your card again to pay the overdue fee.
Grab your bag!
⚠️ Warning: Take a photo of the locker number and your receipt/screen. I once spent 20 minutes panicking because I forgot which number I used in the sea of yellow lockers.
Navigation Help: Getting There (Korean Style)
Don’t just use Google Maps (it doesn’t work well for walking inside stations). Use these landmarks:
- To find the main lockers:
Look for the Kakao Friends Store in the station concourse. The lockers are usually in the corridors nearby.
- If you are lost:
Stop a staff member or a young local and show them this text on your phone:
“물품 보관함 어디에 있어요?” (Where are the lockers?)

Final “Hyung” Advice
Yongsan Station is a beast. It is busy, loud, and crowded.
Weekend Rule: If it is Saturday and you have a large suitcase, assume the station lockers are full. Go directly to a RA.D (Radical Storage) partner point nearby or use a delivery service.
The “Apron” Rule: If you dump your bags and go eat Dakgalbi (Spicy Chicken Stir-fry) nearby, remember to ask for an apron (Ap-chi-ma) so you don’t stain your travel clothes before your train ride!
