ㅐ and ㅔ have merged for many speakers

In Seoul speech, and often sound the same (both near English “eh”). You still spell them differently: dog vs crab. Learn the spelling with the word.

is ui in 의사 doctor, but often [ㅣ] after a consonant in the same word, and [ㅔ] in the particle in casual speech. Follow the page romanization toggle; listen to people around you in Korea.
