Descriptive verbs (형용사)

Korean “adjectives” conjugate like verbs — no separate “to be” for pretty/busy.

They take tense and politeness

예쁘다 is “to be pretty.” Present polite: 예뻐요. Past: 예뻤어요. You do not say “is pretty” with a separate copula. The copula 이다 is for nouns: 학생이에요.

날씨가 좋아요.
nalssiga joayo.
The weather is nice.
이 김치 매워요.
i gimchi maewoyo.
This kimchi is spicy.
