Kakao’s Strategic Move into the Global AI Landscape
Kakao, a major player in South Korea’s technology sector, has officially joined the ‘AI Alliance’, an open-source collaboration aimed at driving innovation in artificial intelligence. Announced on April 12, this marks a significant milestone as Kakao becomes the first South Korean company to enter this prestigious group.
Overview of the AI Alliance
Launched in December of the previous year, the AI Alliance is committed to fostering open innovation. It is composed of over fifty corporations and institutions, including tech giants such as Dell, Meta, Intel, IBM, and AMD. The alliance now boasts membership from over a hundred entities, spanning academia, research institutions, and public agencies.
Kakao’s Role in the AI Alliance
Kakao’s entry into the AI Alliance is not just about membership but also about influence and responsibility. The company will actively participate in setting global AI standards while aligning domestic standards to international norms. This initiative will also provide Kakao a platform to represent South Korea’s industrial interests on a global scale.
