Microbiome / Postbiotics: what the evidence says
The claim: Pre/post/probiotic skincare balances the skin microbiome to calm and strengthen skin.

What the research actually shows
The skin microbiome is a real and active research area, and ingredients labeled prebiotic, probiotic or postbiotic (often ferment lysates or fragments) can act as soothing, conditioning agents that support a comfortable, balanced-looking complexion. However, claims that a topical product reliably rebalances your skin's microbial ecosystem outrun the current cosmetic evidence: effects vary by formula, live organisms rarely survive in leave-on products, and standardized outcomes are lacking. Treat microbiome benefits as a promising but still-developing appearance and comfort story.
