This invention significantly enhances driving safety and has already been integrated into production vehicles through knowledge transfer to automotive companies.

Recognizing Contributions to Communication Technology

The highest honor, the Gold Tower Industrial Service Medal, was awarded to Kim Byung-hoon, Vice President of LG Electronics. Kim has been instrumental in developing essential communication standard technologies, which have generated sustained patent revenues for the company. His efforts have resulted in over 3,000 domestic and international patent applications, contributing significantly to the field of telecommunications.

Breakthroughs in 5G and Micro-lens Technology

The Silver Tower Industrial Service Medals were awarded to Lineho Rhee, Vice Chairman of Dongwoo Fine-Chem, and Kim Jong-woon, a technical advisor at SL. Rhee secured proprietary strategic technologies like 5G transparent antennas, while Kim developed the world’s smallest micro-lens headlamp, pushing forward the automotive industry’s development.

Advancements in Cybersecurity

Professor Oh Hyun-ok from Hanyang University’s Department of Information Systems received the Red Stripes Order of Service Merit for his work in enhancing cybersecurity. He developed a blockchain-based technology to prevent privacy violations in video information, bolstering the nation’s cybersecurity framework.

The Role of Innovation in National Development

Acting Commissioner of KIPO, Kim Si-hyung, expressed gratitude to the inventors for their contributions to Korea’s industrial progress. He emphasized the importance of innovation in overcoming global economic challenges and called on inventors to continue their pioneering work in science and technology.
