Yeosu

여수 is a coastal city on Korea's southern tip, thrust into global consciousness by the 2012 World Expo and the K-pop hit "여수 밤바다" (Yeosu Nightsea) by Busker Busker which turned its waterfront into a romantic pilgrimage. It sits at the entrance of Hallyeo Maritime National Park — an archipelago of 320 islands with emerald waters.

How to Experience Yeosu

1. Travel from Seoul via KTX to Yeosu Expo Station (3hr 20min, ₩47,900).
2. From the station, walk to the 2012 Expo waterfront — adjacent to the station.
3. Take the Yeosu Cable Car (케이블카) for panoramic views over the harbour.
4. Walk across to Odongdo Island (오동도) — famous for camellia flowers and lighthouse.
5. For seafood, visit the Soho waterfront — fresh 조개구이 (grilled clams) stalls line the coast.
