비무장지대 (DMZ) is a 4km-wide, 248km-long buffer zone separating North and South Korea since the 1953 armistice — the world's most heavily fortified border. Day tours from Seoul provide access to Dorasan Station (the southernmost train station built for future inter-Korean trains), the Joint Security Area (JSA) at Panmunjom, and the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel.
