Carbomer in summer: how to adjust
Using Carbomer in summer: the season brings heat, humidity, sweat and peak UV, so what changes is texture, frequency and what you layer around it — not usually whether you use it at all.
If your gel cream holds its shape on the back of your hand instead of running off it, carbomer is usually why. It is a thickener, nothing more, and it needs a neutralising agent to work — which is one reason you often see sodium hydroxide or arginine a few lines later on the same label.
What summer does to your skin
Heat, humidity, sweat and excess oil call for lightweight, fast-absorbing layers and a high, re-applied sunscreen.
How that changes Carbomer
Summer rewards lighter textures and punishes anything occlusive. Strength of active matters less than whether it survives a humid day. Carbomer works on its usual targets, and it is normally applied BOTH.
