Mixsoon Bean Essence 빈 에센스
A single-ingredient-led essence: fermented soybean extract makes up nearly all of it, with almost nothing else on the list. Mixsoon's whole proposition is minimalism and this is its clearest expression. The texture is thick and slightly sticky at first, then settles. It is sold as a softening and smoothing step rather than a hydrating one, though hydration is most of what it actually does.
What it is built around
Who it suits
People who want the shortest possible ingredient list, and skin that reads as rough or tired rather than irritated. Dry and normal skin get on with it best. Anyone with a soy allergy should avoid it outright. If you dislike tacky textures this is not your essence — the first thirty seconds are noticeably sticky.
How to use it
After cleansing or toner, AM and PM. A small amount patted over the face and left to settle before the next step. Some people prefer it as a ten-minute leave-on mask a couple of times a week. Follow with moisturiser; on its own it seals nothing in.

🙋 People also ask
What is essence in Korean skincare?
Essence is a lightweight, watery Korean skincare layer applied after toner and before serum. It's designed to hydrate and prep the skin so later products absorb better. Often fermented or ingredient-rich, essence is sometimes called the heart of a Korean routine.
What is the difference between essence and serum?
In Korean skincare, essence is typically a thinner, hydration-focused layer that preps skin, while serum is more concentrated with targeted actives like vitamin C or niacinamide. Essence usually comes first; serum follows. The line between them blurs, and not every routine needs both.
What is a first essence and do I need one?
A first essence is a watery, high-percentage ferment applied straight after cleansing, before anything else. It is a hydration and conditioning step. Pleasant and popular, but genuinely optional.
What is the difference between essence, serum and ampoule?
Essence is the lightest and most hydration-focused, serum is more concentrated and targeted, and ampoule is the most concentrated of the three. The boundaries are marketing convention, not regulated definitions.
