Dear, Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil
One of the older cleansing oils in the international K-beauty catalogue, built on a blend of dark-coloured plant oils — black bean, black sesame and black currant seed among them — which is where the name comes from rather than any charcoal or clay. It is thicker than the current generation of ester-based oils, gives a slow, comfortable massage, and emulsifies to a soft milk. Klairs has kept it largely unchanged for years.
Who it suits
Dry, normal and sensitive skin that finds newer lightweight oils too quick and stripping. The heavier plant-oil base is comfortable on skin that feels tight after cleansing, and it removes eye makeup patiently. Oily and congestion-prone skin will probably find it too rich for nightly use and should look at a lighter emulsifying oil instead.
How to use it
Two to three pumps onto dry skin, massaged for a full minute so the plant oils have time to loosen makeup and sunscreen. Add lukewarm water and emulsify thoroughly before rinsing. Always follow with a water-based cleanser. PM only, once a day — richer oils reward patience more than repetition.
