기능성화장품 is a Korean regulatory category for cosmetics that make specified types of claims (such as sunscreen or whitening in the cosmetic sense) with extra documentation compared with general cosmetics. It is not a drug approval, not a personal medical endorsement, and not proof a viral review is true. Use it as a label-literacy clue alongside the ingredient list and your own patch test.

Category, not a gold star

The mark tells you the product sits in a documented functional-cosmetic lane in Korea. It does not mean 'stronger' or 'safer for my face' in the abstract.

Sunscreen

Sunscreens are a common functional-cosmetic case. You still need enough product and reapplication. The mark does not replace the labelled SPF/PA.

Whitening wording

Cosmetic brightening claims are not a treatment for medical pigmentation. Melasma belongs with a clinician.
