Is Octocrylene good for normal skin?
Rarely the star of a sunscreen and usually the reason the rest of it survives daylight. Octocrylene is a UVB filter that also props up avobenzone, the classic UVA filter that falls apart in sun without help. Korea, the EU and the US all permit it up to 10%. It is oily, so high levels are a texture trade-off.
Why it suits normal skin
- Absorbs UVB and short UVA wavelengths
- Stabilises avobenzone, which degrades quickly on its own
💡 How to use: AM · patch-test and introduce gradually.
