How Butylene Glycol works 부틸렌글라이콜
Butylene glycol is a small four-carbon diol that binds water and, more importantly, dissolves things water cannot carry on its own — botanical extracts, preservatives, some UV filters. On skin it acts as a mild humectant, holding a little moisture in the top layers, and it slightly loosens the packing of surface lipids, which is why formulas containing it feel like they sink in faster. The humectant effect is genuine but modest, and it is not the reason formulators choose it.
