Moisturiser with SPF versus a separate Korean sunscreen SPF 보습 vs 따로
A moisturiser that lists SPF can be enough only if you apply it as generously as a sunscreen — most people do not. Korean routines usually keep a dedicated 선크림 (sunscreen) as the last AM skincare step because the texture is designed to be worn thick and reapplied. Use a combo cream as extra, not as your only UV layer, unless you know you put on enough.
Why combo creams underperform in real life
You moisturise to comfort, not to a 2 mg/cm² test density. The SPF number on a cream assumes that density. A pea of day cream is a fraction of a tested sunscreen dose.
When a combo product is honest
If the product is marketed and textured as a sunscreen that happens to feel creamy, and you apply it like sunscreen, it is a sunscreen. If it is marketed as a 50 ml face cream with SPF 15 in the corner, treat the SPF as a bonus.
Korean separate SPF
Light fluids and sticks exist because people would not reapply a greasy cream. That is the practical argument, not a mystical filter. Check PA rating for UVA as well as SPF for UVB.
Makeup is not a refill
Powder or cushion with SPF does not reset a morning application to laboratory conditions. A sun stick over makeup is a reasonable reapply tool for the T-zone and ears, still on top of a proper first layer.

🙋 People also ask
Why is Korean sunscreen considered better?
Korean sunscreens are often praised for elegant, lightweight textures that feel pleasant enough to wear daily, which encourages consistent use. They frequently use newer filters approved in Korea but not the US. Preferences are partly cosmetic; effectiveness depends on applying enough and reapplying regardless of brand.
Why is Korean sunscreen better?
Because Korea approves modern UV filters — Uvinul A Plus, Tinosorb S and M among them — that give strong UVA protection in light, non-greasy textures. Some markets, notably the US, have not approved them.
