Shopping Korean skincare fragrance-free when your skin reacts 무향료

On a Korean INCI list, fragrance often appears as Fragrance, Parfum, or 향료. 'Unscented' is not the same as fragrance-free — masking aroma compounds can still be there. For reactive skin, turn the bottle around in Olive Young, skip floral sleeping packs as your first buy, and treat essential-oil 'natural' lines with the same caution as perfume. Patch-test even products tagged 무향.

Words on the box

무향 and fragrance-free are the useful flags. Unscented can mean the smell was hidden. Flower and fruit names in the marketing story often track with added scent, but not always — read the list.

In the shop

Testers exist so you can smell and wait. A product that smells loud on a paper stick will be on your face for hours. Staff will not be offended if you put a loud mask back.

Soothing lines still scent

Cica and mugwort products can be fragranced. The plant story does not cancel the INCI. Look for the calming ingredient and the absence of perfume, not the colour of the bottle.

Makeup and hair

Cushions, lip tints and hair mists are frequent hidden fragrance sources that then sit next to a careful skincare routine. If the face calms and the eyelids do not, look at the base and the hair products.
